‘Epitaph For George Dillon turns out to be something special, there isn't a single weak performance in this acidly funny production. This might just be Osborne's greatest play’ - The Daily Telegraph

‘Osborne arrives in a blaze of passion. Gill’s fine production honours an unjustly neglected play’ - The Guardian

A major new revival directed by Peter Gill of Osborne’s domestic political drama staged at the Comedy in 1958.

A domestic and political drama of hope and disillusionment set in a lower middle class household in South London. The Elliots live their unhappy suburban life until Kate brings home a surrogate for her son killed in the war, the charismatic Bohemian George Dillon (Joseph Fiennes), an aspiring actor and penniless writer.
<br/ > Charismatic out of work actor George Dillon walks into the home of a suburban housewife, and turns her life upside down. Mrs Elliot thinks of him as a son, but her attractive divorced sister, and two single daughters, have different ideas...
<br/ > Joseph Fiennes stars as George in this major new production, set in in a London waiting for the Sixties to happen.

‘The play is entirely successful. Powerful, honest and transfixing.’ Kenneth Tynan – Observer 1958

Peter Gill directs a superb cast including Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, Elizabeth, Enemy at the Gates), Francesca Annis (Reckless, Wives and Daughters) and Anne Reid (The Mother, Coronation Street)
